You'll need a full newspaper, 2 pieces of paper, a pencil or pen, and simple math skills.
The simple secret and setup.
Take any full sheet from a newspaper. You will have four printed pages, two from the front and two from the rear. Add the top numbers. Notice every full sheet in that newspaper will add up to the same numbers. Put the sheet back in place. Write that number down on a piece of paper as your prediction.
Your prediction will not work if there is a single sheet of paper in the newspaper, so take it out. If the paper has an A or B section you will need to take out the full sheet. You will need to add those numbers up and use them as a different choice for your volunteers. You can keep them separate or put them back in place. Keep track of your predictions.
Write them down on separate papers using the letters as follows:
A section 235 and B section 586.
While each newspaper will add up with a different number, it will be the same number for that particular newspaper..
Show everyone a newspaper. Tell everyone that you have not only learned about the news of your neighborhood, but you have also learned some basic mathematical and mental skills. Ask someone to take the newspaper and select and pull out any full page from it. Have them add all the numbers up and write that number down or remember it. Have them tell you the number. Now show them your prediction.
